The High Court on Monday asked the newspapers and other media not to publish or broadcast the particulars of rape and other sexual harassment or assault victims.
An online bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Maniruzzaman issued the directive after hearing a public interest litigation writ petition filed by Justice Watch Foundation chairman Mahfuzur Rahman Milon, also a Supreme Court lawyer.
The court asked the secretaries of the ministries of information and home, the chairmen of Bangladesh Press Council and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission within 30 days.
