5 including ASI charged over gang-rape of teenager in Rangpur

Police Bureau of Investigation has charged five, including a police official, in a case filed over gang-rape of a school student in Rangpur.

PBI submitted the charge sheet separately to Rangpur women and children repression prevention and anti-trafficking tribunals this afternoon, reports our local correspondent quoting ABM Jakir Hosen, superintendent of police, PBI, Rangpur.

Rahenul Islam, suspended assistant sub-inspector of Rangpur police, raped the class 10 student on October 18 and 19 last year at a rented house, according to the charge sheet.

Two other men, Babul and Kalam were involved in the crime with the help of landlady Meghla and victim's friend, the charge sheet adds.

The victim's father filed a case in this connection with Haragachh Police Station on October 26.

"We have found proof of the involvement of the five accused during our investigation," the SP said.
