Two people were killed and one other injured in a road accident at Kamalapur village in Panchagarh Sadar upazila early today as a tractor carrying an excavator fell into a roadside ditch.
The deceased were identified as Muktar Hossain (32) and Abdur Rahman (30). Both of them hailed from Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon. The injured is Sukumar Roy (35), reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
The accident occurred around 2:15am when the Atwary-bound tractor fell into the road side ditch leaving the three critically injured, said Niranjan Sarcar, station officer of Panchagarh Fire Service and Civil Defense.
On information, firefighters went to the spot, rescued them and took them to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital where the on duty doctor declared Muktar and Abdur Rahman dead. Sukumar was transferred to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital as his condition deteriorated, said the fire officer.
The victims were drivers and helpers of the excavator, sources said.
