COVID-19 claims 18 more, infects 1,159 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh logged an additional 18 deaths and 1,159 infections from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours on Sunday, counting the death toll to 8,545 and infections to 557,395.

Among the deceased, 12 were male and six female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release came up with the latest COVID-19 data.

Some 16,206 specimens were tested in the timeline at 219 labs across the country.

Bangladesh had tested a total of 42,64,551 specimens as of March 14.

A total of 1,385 patients were declared free from novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours totalling the recovery to 511,695.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first COVID-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
