Mobile court for mask rule violators: Health minister

Health minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said that the authorities concerned were directed taking legal measures against the persons who will violate the mask use rule.

‘We’ve ordered the authorities concerned take legal measures including mobile court operations and fining them who will violate the mask use rule,’ the health minister told reporters.

‘District committees were asked to ensure that people follow health guidelines,’ he said adding that social gatherings will also be controlled.

COVID-19 situation took a serious turn from the beginning of March after two months of relatively lower number of case detections and deaths in Bangladesh.

DGHS said in the daily update on Monday that 18,695 samples were tested across the country in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am Monday and 9.48 per cent or 1,773 people were tested positive for COVID-19.

Beside, 26 more people died of COVID-19 during the period, the highest daily deaths in the past 67 days.

The daily number of cases was highest in 90 days while the test positivity rate was highest in the past 86 days.

With the new figures, the country so far recorded 5,59,168 cases and 8,571 deaths.
