COVID-19 claims 26 more, infects 1,719 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh logged an additional 26 deaths and 1,719 infections from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours on Tuesday, counting the death toll to 8,597 and infections to 560,887.

Among the deceased, 17 were male and nine female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release came up with the latest COVID-19 data.

Some 20,748 specimens were tested in the timeline at 219 labs across the country.

Bangladesh had tested a total of 43,03,994 specimens as of March 16.

A total of 1,352 patients were declared free from novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours totalling the recovery to 514,479.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first COVID-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
