Bangladesh logs record 5,358 daily COVID-19 infections

Bangladesh in the past 24 hours on Wednesday logged an additional 5,358 infections, which is the highest daily infections in the country, and 52 deaths, the highest toll since September 2020.

With this, the death toll hits 9,046 and infections 611,295.

Among the deceased, 38 were male and 14 female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release came up with the latest COVID-19 data.

Some 26,931 specimens were tested in the timeline at 224 labs across the country.

Bangladesh had tested a total of 46,70,576 specimens as of March 31.

A total of 2,219 patients were declared free from novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours totalling the recovery to 542,399.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first COVID-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
