COVID-19 continued to take its toll on Bangladesh as the virus infected 6,469 new cases in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Thursday.
During the period, COVID-19 claimed the lives of 59 people, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
The daily cases detected in the past 24 hours is, so far, the highest for a single day since the coronavirus was detected in the country on March 8 last year.
With the new cases and deaths, the country so far tallied 6,17,764 cases and 9,105 deaths.
DGHS, in the daily update, saud that 28,198 samples were tested across the country in the past 24 hours and 22.94 per cent of them tested positive for COVID-19.
