Nat’l Zoo, Rangpur Zoo closed for visitors until further notice

The authorities concerned, on Friday, said that Bangladesh National Zoo at Mirpur in Dhaka and Rangpur Zoo would remain closed for visitors from the day until further notice due to upsurge in COVID-19 cases across the country.

The ministry of fisheries and livestock made the announcement through a press statement on Friday.

Besides, all tourist spots in Sylhet and three districts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts — Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban — were closed for the next two weeks due to the sharp increase in COVID-19 deaths and new infections over the past few weeks, officials said on Thursday, April 1, 2021.

On March 18, 2020, all tourist spots across Bangladesh were shut down to contain the spread of COVID-19 cases.

The restrictions were revoked on September 9, 2020, subject to 25 conditions.

The prime minister’s office, on March 29, 2021, issued an 18-point directive for the next two weeks in an effort to restrict the spread of coronavirus in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 last year and the first death on the 18th of that month.
