Covid-19 surge: MBBS admission test underway, large crowds outside centres

This year's MBBS admission test is being held all over the country today despite rising cases of Covid-19 infections. Examinees and their guardians were seen gathering in huge numbers in front of centres in Dhaka city.

Physical distancing was mostly ignored as students reached their designated centres in the morning.

Guardians were also gathering in huge numbers outside centres waiting for examinees to come out after completing the one-hour exam that started at 10:00am.

The crowd outside the Tejgaon College centre in Dhaka included a few hundred guardians and even some vegetable vendors as well, reports our photojournalist from the spot adding that physical distancing was not maintained. A few people were seen without face masks.

On March 24, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said the MBBS admission test will be taken in compliance with the health guidelines.

"Examinees will sit at a distance of 3 feet. Everyone has to wear a mask and there will be sanitisers," he added.
