UK restricts travellers from Bangladesh from April 9

The British government said on Friday that it had restricted passengers from Bangladesh and three other countries from entering into their territory from April 9 due to increasing trend of coronavirus infection in the countries.

The three other countries are Philippines, Pakistan and Kenya.

The UK’s foreign office, in a news release posted on their website, said that the travel ban would be implemented for visitors from those countries since the UK time 4:00am on April 9.

The decision came just a day after the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh in a fresh instruction had barred entry of passengers from all European countries, except the United Kingdom, and a dozen of Latin American, African and Middle Eastern countries for two weeks with effect from April 3 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The CAAB officials said on Thursday said that they had dropped the UK from the list as the situation there was improving and passengers coming from the UK must go on a 14-day mandatory home quarantine and it will be strictly monitored.
