COVID-19 killed 58 more people while 5,683 more were detected with the coronavirus in the country in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am Saturday.
With the new figures, the country so far tallied 9,213 COVID-19 deaths and 6,30,277 cases, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
DGHS in the daily update said that 24,548 samples were tested across the country in the past 24 hours and 23.15 per cent of them were positive for COVID-19.
On Friday, the country recorded highest number of cases for a single day – 6,630. The number of deaths on Friday was 50.
Bangladesh recorded the first cases of COVID-19 March 8 last year.
The country passed 56th week outbreak on Saturday.
The 56th week saw highest number of weekly cases – 38,471 – and highest number of deaths – 344.
