BSF shoots Indian youth at Fulbari border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot and injured an Indian youth when he was trying to enter Bangladesh through Fulbari border area in Kurigram.

The incident took place on Saturday evening, Lalmonirhat BGB Battalion-15 commander Lt Col Touhidul Alam said while confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

The injured was taken to Kurigram general Hospital for treatment, Nageshwari police station Officer-in-Charge Roushan Kabir said.

The injured was identified as Milon Mia, 18, son of Jagu Alam of Kuthi village in Shahidal of Cooch Behar district of India.

Police said that he was crossing the border illegally to visit his grandparents' house in Doalipara village of ward 7 of Vitarband union in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram.

On Saturday evening, he was shot in the right side of the chest while entering Bangladesh from India illegally through the border pillar 946/5 under Jhikri Camp of 192 of BSF.

Bangladesh Border Guard will take further decision on whether any legal action will be taken against the youth for illegal trespassing.
