Viral altercation involving doctor, magistrate, police: HC refuses to pass order

A High Court bench today refused to pass any order on an altercation involving a physician, a magistrate and a police officer over the former's movement pass in Dhaka that went viral on social media yesterday.

Supreme Court lawyer Md Eunus Ali Akond placed the newspaper reports on the incident before the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir seeking necessary order on the issue.

He prayed to the court to pass a suo muto (voluntary) order on the issue.

The HC bench told Eunus Ali Akond that he has no locus standi (right to appear in court) to seek such an order as he is not an aggrieved person.

"We will look into the matter if any aggrieved person comes before us for any order," Justice M Enayetur Rahim told Eunus.

The SC lawyer said that he will move a petition before the HC for an order on the government to conduct an enquiry into the incident and to take necessary action against the magistrate and police.
