Sheikh Md Mamunur Rashid, assistant commissioner at Dhaka deputy commissioner's office and an executive magistrate, has been transferred to Barishal division.
He was involved in the altercation with a BSMMU doctor on Dhaka's Elephant Road during the ongoing lockdown. The incident had sparked widespread criticism and divided netizens.
The fracas transpired at a check point where police had stopped the doctor to check her ID.
When asked about the transfer of Rashid, Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Sheikh Yusuf Harun told UNB that it was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Transfer (of government officials) is a natural process. He (Rashid) too has been transferred normally. It (his transfer) was under process for some time," Harun said.
