Covid-19 claims 69, infects 1,359 more in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has confirmed 69 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday, according to the government’s daily update on Covid situation.

A total of 1,359 new cases have also been confirmed during the same time after testing 14,158 samples, said the government daily update.

The daily infection rate was 9.6 per cent on Sunday with the overall positivity rate at 13.86 per cent.

The overall death toll from the viral disease reached 11,579 on Sunday and 761,943 people contracted the disease so far, according to the government estimate.

A total of 2,657 people recovered in the 24 hours until Sunday morning taking the total number of recovered Covid patients to 687,328.

In the 24 hours until Saturday morning, 60 people died because of Covid-19 and 1,452 new cases have been confirmed during the time.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first Covid-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
