A petition has been filed with a Dhaka court seeking to a start a murder case against Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun over the death of Mosarat Jahan Munia.
On Sunday, Munia’s brother Ashikur Rahman Sabuj moved the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court accusing Sharun, the son of whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, of her sister’s murder.
Earlier, Munia’s sister Nusrat Jahan started a case, where she accused Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir of abetting Munia’s suicide.
Following the death of Munia, screenshots of text messages between the 21-year-old and Sharun emerged on the social media.
Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan accepted Sabju's petition but said any proceedings over it will be stayed as the probe into the case of abetment to suicide was ongoing, the court’s Bench Assistant Masud Parvez told.
Munia was found hanging in a flat in Dhaka's upscale neighourhood of Gulshan on April 26.
Hours after, Nusrat filed a case with the Gulshan police station against Sayem under Section 306 of the Penal Code.
