Covid-19 claims 65, infects 1,739 more in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has confirmed 65 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the 24 hours until 8:00 am on Monday, according to the government’s daily update on Covid situation.

A total of 1,739 new cases have also been confirmed during the same time after testing 19,431 samples, said the government daily update.

Of the 65 deaths in 24 hours until Monday morning, 42 were males and 23 were females.

The daily test positivity rate was 8.95 per cent on Monday with the overall positivity rate at 13.84 per cent.

The overall death toll from the viral disease reached 11,644 on Monday and 763,682 people contracted the disease so far, according to the government estimate.

A total of 3,834 people recovered in the 24 hours until Sunday morning taking the total number of recovered Covid patients to 6,91,182.

Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 reported the first Covid-19 positive cases while the first death was logged ten days later on March 18, 2020.
