The Chittagong district detective police have arrested Jakaria Noman Foyezi, publicity secretary of the recently dissolved committee of Hefazat-e-Islam, in connection with the unrest caused by Hefazat to protest Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bangladesh.
He was arrested at 4pm on Wednesday in Chakaria, Cox's Bazar.
Chittagong District Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque confirmed the arrest.
He said that a team of the district detective police had arrested Jakaria Noman Foyezi in Chakaria and that he was being brought to Chittagong.
Earlier on March 26, Hefazat-e-Islam activists staged a protest in Hathazari against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh.
