Bangladesh suspends passenger vessels for cyclone Yaas

The authorities concerned in Bangladesh have ordered suspension of movement of all passenger carrying water transports on Bangladesh river routes until further instruction due to a cyclonic storm Yaas formed over the Bay of Bengal.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority issued the instruction, said a press release of the shipping ministry on Tuesday.

Met Office has already asked all concerned to maintain cautionary signal no. 3 at seaports and 2 at river ports.

Cyclone Yaas is likely to make landfall between Odisha and West Bengal of India Wednesday.

Forecasters have predicted that Bangladesh’s costal districts may face impacts of the cyclonic storm heading towards neighbouring India.
