Covid claims 22 more, infects 1,292 in Bangladesh

Covid-19 claimed 22 more lives while infected 1,292 people in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Thursday.

The latest figures took the overall death caused by the viral disease to 12,480 and the total number of infections to 794,985.

A Director General of Health Services release confirmed it.

The death toll is slightly higher than Thursday, 17 people, while the infection is lower than the day, 1,497.

Of the deceased, 18 died at government and four at private hospitals.

The daily update shows that 11 of the deceased were aged above 60 years, six aged between 51 and 60 years, three between 41 and 50 years, one each aged between 31 and 40 years, and 21 and 30 years.

A total of 15,915 people had their samples tested in the timeline, said the release.

During the timeline, a total of 1,291 people recovered from the diseases. As of, May 20, the number of recovered people raised to 735,157.

Bangladesh officially announced the first Covid infection on March 8 and the first death from the viral disease on March 18.
