LPG price slashed by 7pc to Tk 842

The energy regulator today cut the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) of private companies by over 7 per cent to Tk 842 for every 12kg cylinder.

The new price will come into effect from tomorrow, Abdul Jalil, chairman of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), said while announcing the new price at a virtual press conference.

He said the commission re-fixed the price as per the new rate of the Saudi Contract Price for May.

The contract price rate set by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) each month is the dominant price for LPG in Asia and elsewhere in the world.

Last month, the BERC also brought down the retail price of the fuel by around 7 per cent to Tk 906 for every 12kg cylinder.
