Covid-19 claims 43 more, infects 1,447 in Bangladesh

Covid-19 claimed 43 more lives while infected 1,447 people in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Saturday.

The new figures took the overall Covid death toll to 13,115 and infections 809,314 ever since Covid-19 emerged on March 8, 2020.

The number of deaths is higher than that of the previous day, 34.

Among the deceased, 30 were male and 13 were female patients, a daily release of the Director General of Health Services confirmed.

The daily update shows that 21 of the deceased were aged above 60 years, 13 aged between 51 and 60 years, two between 41 and 50 years, five aged between 31 and 40 years, one between 21 and 30 and one between 0 to 10 years.

A total of 13,115 people had their samples tested in the timeline, said the release.

During the timeline, a total of 1,970 people recovered from the diseases.

Bangladesh officially announced the first Covid infection on March 8 and the first death from the viral disease on March 18.
