A 33-member committee of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh led by Junaid Babunagari was declared on Monday.
The convening committee member secretary Nurul Islam made the announcement at a press conference at Jamia Islamia Makhjanul Ulum Madrassah in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area.
Nurul named himself the secretary general of the new committee.
Both Junaid and Nurul were amir and secretary general of the recently dissolved committee.
The committee had been resolved following the arrest of their leaders over the violence during and after the visit of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh in March.
