Covid-19 killed 43 more people and infected 2,454 others in the past 24 hours until 8:00am on Friday.
The Directorate General of Health Services came up with this statistics in its daily health update.
The case positivity rate during the time was 13.24 per cent after testing 18,535 samples.
The latest figures take the overall number of Covid deaths to 13,032 and infections to 822,849 ever since the viral disease emerged on March 8, 2020.
The death toll is higher than that of yesterday, 40 people.
The highest number of 11 deaths was reported from Rajshahi during the 24 hours reporting period.
Among the deceased of Thursday, 30 are male and 13 female patients.
A total of 18,535 samples have been tested in the past 24 hours at 510 laboratories across Bangladesh, said the DGHS update. Bangladesh had tested 61,44,773 specimens as of June 11.
Some 2,286 patients recovered from the viral disease in the past 24 hours totalling the recovery to 761,916, said the health update.
Meanwhile, 15 more patients died at the Covid-19 units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the past 24 hours ending Friday morning, hospital authorities confirmed.
As Covid infection and deaths are increasing in Rajshahi since late May, the local administration is going to enforce a weeklong lockdown in Rajshahi city from Friday 5:00pm to contain the surge of Covid infection.
The district administration and the police were seen using public announcement system on Friday morning to let the Rajshshi city dwellers know about the lockdown and guidelines to be followed during the strict restriction period.
Foreign minister AK Abdul Momen on Friday said that Covax would provide Bangladesh one million 800 AstraZeneca Covid vaccine.
The minister's office informed over phone that a mention of the United States was made earlier inadvertently as a source of the vaccine.
Covax is an initiative of Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and WHO, for providing Covid vaccines to the countries in need.
