12 more die at RMCH Covid units

Twelve more people died at the Covid units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the past 24 hours ending Tuesday morning.

RMCH director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany told New Age that of the dead, seven were from the boarding district Chapainawabganj, three were from Rajshahi district, and one each from Natore and Naogaon districts.

Eight of the deceased, he added, were positive for Covid-19 while the rest died with symptoms of Covid infection and before testing their samples.

Among the deceased, eight were men and four were women, he added.

According to the RMCH sources, a total of 148 patients died in the Covid units of the hospital in the last 15 days. Of the deceased, 88 tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining ones, having symptoms of Covid infection, died before testing their samples.

Brigadier Shameem Yazdany said that 52 new patients were admitted to the hospital’s Covid units in the last 24 hours while a total of 325 patients were taking treatment at the units having 271 beds.

On Monday, 117 out of 558 samples from four districts were tested in two labs in Rajshahi Medical College and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
