Bangladesh logs 50 more Covid deaths

Covid-19 claimed the lives of 50 people and infected 3,319 more in the past 24 hours until 8:00am on Tuesday.

The daily health update of the Directorate General of Health Services came up with the statistics.

A total of 23,265 samples have been tested during the reporting period with 14.27 per cent test positivity rate, said the DGHS update.

Rajshahi and Khulna divisions reports the highest number of 15 deaths in the reporting period, said the DGHS update.

Among the deceased, 30 are male and 20 female patients.

Forty five of them died at public hospitals, three at private ones and one each died at their homes and brought dead to hospital, according to the government statistics.

A total of 23,265 samples have been tested in the timeline. Bangladesh had tested 62,18,979 samples as of June 15.

A total of 2,243 people recovered from the viral disease totalling the number to 771,073.

The daily update shows that 26 of the deceased were aged above 60 years, 11 aged between 51 and 60 years, nine between 41 and 50 years, three between 31 and 40 years, and one between the age range of 21 to 30.

Meanwhile in Rajshahi, 12 more people died at the Covid units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in the past 24 hours ending Tuesday morning.

RMCH director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany told New Age that of the dead, seven were from the boarding district Chapainawabganj, three were from Rajshahi district, and one each from Natore and Naogaon districts.

Eight of the deceased, he added, were positive for Covid-19 while the rest died with symptoms of Covid infection and before testing their samples.
