Throat-slit bodies of woman, two children recovered in Sylhet

The throat-slit bodies of a woman and her two children were found at their house at Dimnakandi of Goainghat upazila in Sylhet on Wednesday morning.

Local people and police also rescued the woman’s husband Hifzur Rahman, 35, in a critical condition and sent him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The deceased are Hifzur’s wife Alima Begum, 30, their son Md Mizan, 10, and daughter Tanisha, 3.

Goainghat police officer-in-charge Abdul Ahad told New Age that local people heard groaning from inside the house of Hifzur at about 8:00am on Wednesday and stormed into the house and found the three bodies and Hifzur in critical condition.

He said that police rescued the injured and sent him to hospital for treatment.

The bodies were sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations, the OC said, adding that the bodies bore marks of stabbing.

No case was lodged so far and none was arrested, the OC added.
