30 more die in Covid units in Khulna, Rajshahi, Satkhira

A total of 30 patients died at Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna and Covid units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Satkhira Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday.

Of the deceased, 11 patients died at Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna, 10 others died at the Covid units of RMCH and nine more died at the Covid units of SMCH during the time.

Of the 30, a total of 12 patients were positive for Covid-19 while the rest ones had symptoms of Covid infection and died before testing their samples, the authorities said.

Covid Dedicated Hospital in Khulna coordinator Mehedi Newaz told that eight of the 11 patients died at his hospital in the past 24 hours were Covid positive patients and the three others had symptoms of Covid infection.

He said that they had now 155 admitted patients in the hospital having a bed capacity of 130 and that all the 20 beds of the Intensive Care Unit were filled up.

Rajshahi University, quoting RMCH director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany, reported that of the 10 deceased of the hospital, three were positive for Covid-19 and the rest had Covid symptoms.

The RMCH director said that five of the deceased were from Rajshshi and the rest five came from the boarding district of Chapainawabganj.

According to RMCH officials, a total of 193 patients died in the Covid units of the hospital in the ongoing month and 105 of them were Covid positive patients.

Brigadier Shameem Yazdany said that 46 new patients were admitted to the hospital’s Covid units in the past 24 hours while a total of 365 patients were taking treatment at the units, now having 309 beds.

Of them, 171 patients were positive for Covid-19 while the rest were taking treatment at the hospital’s Covid units with symptoms.

RMCH deputy director Saiful Ferdous told that 192 out of 563 samples were tested positive for Covid-19 at the two labs of the Rajshahi Medical College and RMCH in the last 24 hours.

Satkhira Medical College Hospital superintendent Kudrat-e-Khuda Nawroz told that eight patients, including one Covid positive patient, died at his hospital’s Covid units in 24 hours till 8:00am on Saturday.
