Three people, including a motorcycle rider, were killed in a road accident on the Mymensingh-Tangail highway in Muktagacha upazila’s Rasulpur area on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Selim, a motorcycle rider, Sabuj, 20, son of Abul Qasem and Onta,19, son of Lal Mia.
All of them hailed from Charipara village of Muktagacha upazila.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muktagacha police station Dulal Akand said the accident occurred when a speedy truck crushed a motorcycle in the area around 8pm, leaving the motorcycle rider Selim dead on the spot and injuring the co-riders.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Selim.
The wounded were taken to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared Sobuj dead.
Onta was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) as his condition deteriorated. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, the OC added.
“We have seized the truck and detained its driver,” he added.
