Nasir, Omi put on 5-day remand in Pori Moni’s case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday put former Dhaka Boat Club president Nasir U Mahmood and Tuhin Siddique Omi on five-day remand each in an attempt to rape and murder case filed by actress Pori Moni.

Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajib Hassan passed the order after Savar police station inspector Kamal Hossain produced them before the court seeking their 10-day remand.

On June 14, detectives arrested five people, including prime accused Nasir U Mahmood, in the case of attempt to rape and murder filed by Pori Moni.

They were arrested at an apartment in Uttara Sector-1, hours after the actress had filed the case with the Savar police station.

On June 13 night, Pori Moni at a press conference claimed that she was a victim of a rape and murder attempt in the Dhaka Boat Club at Savar on June 10 night.

She said that Nasir, an executive committee member of the boat club, assaulted her physically and mentally in the club.

Nasir is a businessman and presidium member of Jatiya Party.

He is the chairman of Kunjo Developers Limited and a former president of Uttara Club Limited.
