33 die in Covid units in Rajshshi, Khulna, Satkhira

A total of 33 patients died in the Covid units of hospitals in Khulna, Rajshshi and Satkhira districts in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

Of them, six died in three hospitals in Khulna, 18 died in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and nine died in two hospitals in Satkhira districts, quoting government officials, reported.

Of the 33 deceased, 14 were Covid positive patients and 19 died with symptoms of Covid infection.

In Khulna, one Covid positive patients died at the Covid Dedicated Hospital operated by Khulna Medical College Hospital, quoting the hospital’s resident medical officer Suhas Chandra Halder.

Three more Covid positive patients died in Gazi Medical College Hospital, said the hospital’s chairman Gazi Mizanur Rahman.

The statistics department of Khulna civil surgeon’s office said that that two patients died in the Covid units of Khulna General Hospital in the past 24 hours.

quoting SMCH superintendent Kudrat-e-Khuda, reported that a total of eight patients, all having symptoms of Covid infection, died in the Covid units of Satkhira Medical College Hospital.

Satkhira Sadar Hospital’s medical officer Jayanta Kumar Sarkar who compiles the district’s Covid related information said that another patient having Covid symptoms died in a private clinic in the district town during the time.

A total of 18 more patients died in the Covid units of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

This is the highest number of deaths in a single day at RMCH since Covid-19 outbreak last year.

RMCH director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany told that eight patients, out of the 18, were positive for Covid-19 while the rest died with Covid-19 symptoms.

He said that 13 of the dead were from Rajshahi district while four were from Naogaon district, and the rest one was from Chapainawabganj district.

According to the RMCH officials, a total of 260 patients died in the Covid units of the hospital in the ongoing month.

Brigadier Shameem Yazdany said that 54 new patients were admitted to the hospital’s Covid units in the past 24 hours while a total of 406 patients were taking treatment at the units, having 309 beds.

He also said that 188 samples out 654 were tested positive for Covid-19 in the two labs of the hospital and Rajshahi Medical College in the past 24 hours.
