Police in Dhaka’s Savar upazila have arrested three people for gang-raping a garment worker.
The incident was reported on Tuesday at Hemayetpur Joynabari area in Tentuljhora union. The victim filed a case with the police the same day.
Early on Wednesday, police arrested suspects Tareq Rahman, 21, Rabbi, 20, and Amit Hasan, 22, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahidul Islam of the Savar police.
They lived in a rented house at Hemayetpur, where the incident happened, he said.
SI Zahidul Islam said the victim was returning home from work on Tuesday, when her acquaintances Tarek and Rabbi abducted her, took her to their place and gang-raped her. They also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
The suspects will be produced in court on Thursday while the victim has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital to undergo medical tests, said the police officer.
