Covid-19 claims 132, infects 8,483 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh for the sixth consecutive day on Friday logged 100-plus daily deaths from Covid-19.

The viral disease claimed 132 more lives and infected 8,483 people across the country in the past 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Friday.

The latest figures take the overall death caused by the viral disease to 14,778 and the total number of infections to 930,042.

Among the deceased, 81 are male and 51 female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release confirmed the statistics.

On July 1 until 8:00am, Bangladesh logged the all-time high deaths of 143 people and 8,301 infections.

Earlier the country recorded 119 deaths on June 27.

The 100-plus daily deaths were recorded July 2 for six days in a row.

Bangladesh also experienced a total of 67 deaths at the Covid units of hospitals in Rajshahi, Khulna, Satkhira, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Chattogram and Mymensingh districts in the past 24 hours ending Friday morning.

Of them, 17 died in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, 11 in three Khulna hospitals, four in Satkhira Medical College Hospital, seven in Kushtia, 10 in Jhenaidah, four in Chattogram and 14 in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Of the deceased, 44 were Covid positive patients and remaining 23 patients died with symptoms of Covid infection.
