Gas leaks out at Moghbazar blast site

Gas was leaking out at Moghbazar blast site on Sunday morning. A fire service team was deployed in the area to avert any accident.

Fire service senior staff officer, on Sunday, said that they had detected gas leakage at the blast site and a unit of fire-fighters were sent there.

The fire service team was trying to detect the source of leakage.

The preliminary investigation suggested that ‘leaked gas’ was the main reason of the explosion that took place at a building, opposite to the Moghbazar branch of Aarong, on Shaheed Sangbadik Selina Parvin Road on June 26.

At least 11 people were killed and several hundred were injured in the explosion that had rocked the area wrecking and damaging many vehicles, buildings and business infrastructure.

The police filed a case on Tuesday, June 29, with the Ramna police station over the explosion, mentioning seven entities and an individual as suspects for their ‘negligence’ that led to the explosion.

The case was transferred to the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Saturday, July 3.

The police are yet to arrest or detain anyone over the case.
