AG asked to ensure virtual presences of arrested people in courts

The High Court on Wednesday asked the attorney general to take steps to implement a law that made it mandatory for virtual presences of arrested people before the courts.

An online bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim issued the verbal directive after Supreme Court lawyer Asad Uddin drew its attention to media reports that the law enforcers were regularly producing hundreds of arrested people in the courts physically, putting them into prison vans, causing risk of being infected with Covid-19.
