Workers of a garment factory have blocked Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Kanchpur in Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila, demanding salaries and other arrears.
Thousands of RMG workers of Opex and Sinha Group took to the streets around 10:00am today, Officer-in-Charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station Moniruzzaman.
On information, industrial police rushed to the spot and were trying to convince the workers to leave the highway till 12:30pm when this report was filed.
Vehicles carrying goods as well as patients on the highway were seen stuck, following the blockade.
According to the Bangla daily Prothom Alo, the workers claimed that they are not getting salaries for the last four months. The garment factory is closed at present.
