Bangladesh logs highest daily 230 Covid deaths, 11,874 infections

Bangladesh logged the highest Covid deaths and cases in a single day in past 24 hours on Sunday.

A total of 230 more people died of the viral disease while 11,874 more got infected in the timeline.

With this, the total death toll hits 16,419 and cases hit 10,21,189. Among the deceased, 133 are male and 97 female patients.

Among them, 169 died in public hospitals, 42 in private hospitals, and 19 died at their homes.

The daily test positivity rate is 29.67.

A Directorate General of Health Services release confirmed the statistics.

A total of 40,015 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 613 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 69,71,167 samples as of July 11.

A total of 6,362 people recovered from the disease during the timeline totalling the recovery to 874,501.

Besides death of Covid patients, our correspondents from different districts of the country said that a good number of patients died with Covid symptoms at the Covid units in hospitals there.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Khulna, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Chattogram, Satkhira and Mymensingh said that a total of 105 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the district in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Of them, 62 were Covid-19 positive and 43 had symptoms.

Among the divisions, Khulna logged the highest Covid death of 66 people in the timeline while Dhaka logged the second highest death of 56 people.
