Bangladesh logs 204 daily Covid deaths

Bangladesh logs an additional 204 daily deaths from Covid and 8,489 more cases in 24 hours until Saturday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 17,669 and infections to 10,92,411.

Among the deceased, 125 are male and 79 female patients.

A Directorate General of Health Services release confirmed the statistics.

The daily test positivity rate is 29.6 per cent.

A total of 29,214 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 72,15,581 samples as of July 17.

In the timeline, 8,820 recovered from the viral disease during the timeline totalling the recovery to 9,23,163.

A total of 161 patients died in public hospitals, 41 in private hospitals and two died at their homes, according to the government statistics.

The highest 82 Covid deaths was reported from Dhaka division while Khulna Division recorded second highest deaths of 49 Covid positive patients.

Besides, 32 Covid patients died in Chattogram division, 20 in Rajshahi, 10 in Rangpur, five in Barishal, four in Mymensingh and two Covid patients died in Sylhet division during the time.

Reports received from 11 districts - Rajshshi, Khulna, Bagerhat, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Chattogram, Satkhira, Mymensingh, Barishal, Bogura and Tangail – show that a total of 108 patients died in Covid units of different hospitals in the districts. Of the 108 deceased, 49 were Covid positive patients and 59 had symptoms of Covid-19 infection.
