2 suspected robbers killed in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

Two suspected criminals were killed in a 'gunfight' with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon upazila on Monday.

Members of the elite police unit recovered firearms and yaba pills from the spot following the incident, reports Bangla Tribune.

According to sources, the deceased – who are yet to be identified – were members of a robbery gang, reports Bangla Tribune.

RAB, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive in the upazila’s Baroil village area early on Monday.

At one point they came across a gang of robbers who were preparing for a robbery.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire at the RAB patrol team.

The gang fled the scene when RAB retaliated.

RAB then recovered the two with injuries from the spot and took them to the Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor pronounced them dead.

Two RAB members were also injured in the drive, added RAB sources.
