15-km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway

A 15-kilometre tailback was created on Dhaka-Tangail- Bangabandhu Bridge Highway on early Monday, causing immense sufferings to the Eid holidaymakers.

The tailback continued till 9:00am.

Home-bound people are the worst sufferers of the situation that has been continuing since the last few day.

Starting from the Bangabandhu bridge east, the tailback reached Rabna bypass of Sadar upazila area on the highway.

The Dhaka-bound lane of the highway was clear but there was a huge tailback on the North Bengal-bound lane.

Inspector Yasir Arafat, in-charge of Elenga highway police outpost, said that huge rush of home-bound people was the main cause of the tailback on the highway.

Police super of Tangail Sanjit Kumar Roy said that total 603 policemen were deployed on the highway to ease of tailback and 200 policemen were providing additional service on the highway.
