Bangladesh reports record high Covid deaths of 258 in 24 hrs

Bangladesh logged new record of highest daily Covid deaths in 24 hours ending Tuesday morning.

During the timeline, the country logged deaths of 258 people and 14,925 cases.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 19,779 and infections to 11,94,752 since it had recorded the first death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 28.44 per cent while.

Among the deceased, 138 are male and 120 female are patients. 

A total of 52,478 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 639 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 75,58, 711 samples as of July 27.

In the past 24 hours, 12,439 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 10,22,414.

Of the deceased, 202 died in public hospitals, 39 in private hospitals, 15 died at their homes and two were brought dead to hospital, according to the government statistics.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 84 people followed by 50 in Khulna, 61 in Chattogram, 11 in Rangpur, 13 in Barishal, 21 in Rajshahi, 11 in Mymensingh and seven in Sylhet divisions.
