Seventeen people died of Covid-19 in Chattogram district in 24 hours, till 8am today.
A total of 1,315 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 during the period, breaking the previous single-day record.
According to the Civil Surgeon's office, 3,515 samples were tested at 11 labs and 1,315 of them came positive.
Among the infected, 858 were from the port city while the rest from different upazilas of the district, the civil surgeon's office said.
The current positivity rate in the district is 37.41 percent, according to Chattogram Civil Surgeon's office.
A total of 949 people -- 569 in the city and 380 in upazilas -- died of coronavirus in the district so far. In total, 79,751 people were diagnosed with Covid-19.
