Three men were killed after a covered van crashed into a tractor and ploughed through a group of workers in Chandina, Comilla.
The incident, which also left several others injured, took place on the side of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the Harikhola Mazar area around 8am on Thursday.
Witnesses and police identified the deceased as Nurul Islam, 40, Foizar Rahman, 40, and Liton, 40.
Labourers Nurul and Foizar were loading sand on a tractor when the Dhaka-bound covered van Liton was driving lost control and crashed into it, said Eliotganj highway police OC Ziaul Haque.
He said Nurul and Foizar were killed on the spot while Liton passed away on the way to a hospital.
The OC added that at least three others, including the tractor’s driver Amir Hossain, were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital with critical injuries.
He said that police and Fire Service personnel worked together to recover the bodies, and rescue the injured and send them to the hospital.
