Covid claims 239 more in 24 hours in Bangladesh

Bangladesh logged an additional Covid death of 239 people and 15,271 cases in 24 hours until Thursday.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 20,255 and infections to 12,26,253 since it had recorded the first death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 29.21 per cent while.

Among the deceased, 123 are male and 116 female are patients.

A total of 52,282 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 639 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 76,64, 870 samples as of July 29.

In the past 24 hours, 14,336 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 10,50,220.

Of the deceased, 181 died in public hospitals, 43 in private hospitals, and 15 died at their homes, according to the government statistics.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 76 people followed by 45 in Khulna, 57 in Chattogram, 11 in Rangpur, 14 in Barishal, 13 in Rajshahi, nine in Mymensingh and 14 in Sylhet divisions.

Reports received from Khulna, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira, Tangail and Mymensingh said that at least 98 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours ending Thursday morning.

Of the deceased, 55 were Covid patients and 43 had Covid symptoms, reports received from the districts said.
