Bangladesh extends closure of education institutions until Aug 31

The government has further extended the ongoing closure of educational institutions until August 31 amid the surge in Covid infections and the ongoing restrictions on public movements and businesses to contain the surge.

The decision to extend the closure has been taken considering the health issue of students, teachers and parents, said a press release of the education ministry on Thursday night.

All secondary and higher secondary educational institutions and madrassahs will remain closed till August 31, an education ministry official said.

The educational institutions are closed since March 2020.

The government had to cancel the Primary School Certificate, Junior School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate examinations in 2020.

The Secondary School Certificate examinations of 2020 were completed before the start of the Covid outbreak in March 2020.
