Bangladesh witnessed an additional 261 Covid deaths and 8,136 fresh cases in 24 hours ending Saturday morning.
Of the deaths Dhaka division witnessed record high deaths of 101 Covid patients.
With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 22,411 and infections to 13,43,369 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.
The daily test positivity rate is 25.65 per cent.
Among the deceased, 152 are males and 109 female patients.
The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.
A total of 31,714 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 80,75,407 samples as of August 7.
In the past 24 hours, 16,383 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 11,88,820.
In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged highest death toll of 101 Covid patients, Chattogram 62, Khulna 45, Barishal 12, Rajshahi eight, Sylhet seven, 10 Rangpur and 16 patients died in Mymensingh.
