Khulna Division logged 28 Covid-19 deaths and 612 new cases in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, as the Delta variant of the deadly novel coronavirus continues to wreak havoc across the country.
According to the divisional health director's office, 12 people died in Kushtia, seven in Jessore, two each in Khulna, Chuadanga and Jhenaidah, and one each in Magura, Meherpur and Bagerhat.
With the fresh figures, until Sunday morning, the death toll at the division’s 10 districts reached 2,657 and the total number of cases climbed to 99,494.
At the same time, 78,359 people also recovered from Covid-19 in the division.
In Khulna Division, the first Covid-19 case was detected in Chuadanga on March 19 last year, 10 days after the country recorded the first infection.
