Influential people from different professions were in close contact with actor Pori Moni and some of the others arrested during recent drives, investigators said today.
"We are verifying the names now," Additional DIG at CID, Sheikh Omar Faruk, told reporters at the CID headquarters in Dhaka's Malibagh.
The official said they got the names while interrogating Pori Moni, models Fariha Mahbub Piyasha and Moriom Akter Mou, and other arrestees.
He declined to speak further for the sake of the ongoing investigation.
"No one has yet complained to CID about blackmailing, but we are getting information of their [arrestees'] involvement," he said while replying to a query.
The CID official said they seized some devices from Pori Moni's house yesterday, which will be sent to forensic lab.
The CID is currently investigating the cases against Pori Moni, Piyasha and Mou, their associate Mishu Hasan, producer Nazrul Islam Raz, and businessperson turned politician Helena Jahangir.
