Covid claims 241 more, infects 10,299 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 241 more people and 10,299 fresh cases in 24 hours until Sunday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 22,652 and infections to 13,53,695 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 24.52 per cent.

Among the deceased, 128 are male and 113 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 42,003 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 81,17,410 samples as of August 8.

In the past 24 hours, 16,627 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 12,05,447.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 105 and Chattogram logged 59 deaths.

Reports received from Khulna, Rajshahi, Kushtia, Chuadanga, Barishal, Chattogram, and Mymensingh said that a total of 77 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours till Sunday morning.

Of the deceased, 47 were Covid patients while 30 of them had symptoms.
